Scaling up high quality treatment for clubfoot
Training of Trainers: one of the fastest ways we can scale up access to high quality treatment is through training more clinicians to provide it effectively. This is compounded when we train trainers. Our ACT Global Clubfoot, Train the Trainers (TTT) programme imparts skills in teaching adults using specific learning techniques such as how to teach practical skills, give feedback, lead group discussions, provide mentoring, give effective presentations and more. These build leadership and effective communication alongside clinical expertise.
Once trained, each trainer can deliver specialist clinical training to 20+ clinicians each year, who in turn could treat 30+ babies with clubfoot each year. A typical TTT for 15 trainers could therefore result in an additional 600 babies treated per trainer per year and almost 7000 babies combined! In the RunFree Accelerator, we will deliver TTT training for clinicians from countries where they would not otherwise be able to access it, enabling more rapid, locally led scale up.
